Automotive OEMs know to respect law, but the privacy rights might change over time. Customers are going to be increasingly connected in the upcoming years, wanted or not. Customers are able to control more and more of their lives through their devices including the used vehicles.
Today's situation is humans are connected, devices are connected, but our vehicles are not connected to us and our devices.
Automotive industry is not used to engage with customers via social media. They don't even know what it would mean to have customer preference, feedback and behavior in real-time.
The connected customer will be a transparent person in all matters of his life. What do you think will do someone how is interested in you? He will try to win you with his knowledge about you.
And this is not all I have chosen the term "transparent person" and this means it is not only limited to customers. A company will also know details of other companies for reason that all is connected via persons. Loss of privacy will lead finally to loss of intellectual property.
So we see a lot of losses in future, who can we nominate for winning the game?
Collecting and having big data continuously from and about people is only one side of the medal. You need also machine learning and artificial intelligence for data based decision making and actions. Let us summarize it as "advanced analytics".

We should get used to the thought to act in a connected world without privacy but with increased knowledge based on the quality of our direct and indirect edges. Or you keep it like Ghandi: "I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.".#China does not yet have the same kind of vibrant #AI ecosystem as the US (but this is just the beginning) #fintechhttps://t.co/GS0miejlIJ pic.twitter.com/ehprjQEklM— Sebastien Meunier (@sbmeunier) 30.
