Should Twitter offer a larger tweet format?

140 characters are enough to write a silly or funny message. But it isn't enough to write a short story.

Only 0.4 percent of the Japanese tweets and 9 percent of the English tweets reach the 140 characters limit.
The average length is 34 characters in English posts.
So what makes Twitter different? It is not a blog portal, it is a kind of public short messaging.
Personally I don't believe the increase will help the company to win more users.

I would spend the effort on offering better statistics that show what is going on my account. There are many commercial tools that are doing the job right now.

Second they should sort out automatically double tweets in timeline and tweets that are already read during the last week and posted again.

Third I would like to have an option for each followed account to receive only tweets that are not answers or likes.

Last but not least. Twitter should rate the quality of content like google.
