Smart City means loss of data privacy

Europe seems to be the last island where data protection is still maintained. Even data protectors row back and sing small for participation. That opens the way for 7 technologies that in summary will define the future of a Smart City:
  • Fifth-generation wireless (5G): The amount of data must be managed and transferred.
  • Big data: The city must be understood. Data is coming from IoT such as video recordings, sensors, devices, clothes, vehicles etc.
  • Augmented and virtual reality: What we see so far is not enough. There is more.
  • Connected autonomous vehicles: Nearly all actions are concentrated on cars but there are more vehicles to watch. E-bikes, hover boards, roller, drones, exoskeletons etc. will get a visible  market share.
  • Connected services: Citizens, workers and visitors don't need to own things. They can also rent them on demand or share it with others. In addition there will be service that entertain, teach and inform us.
  • Artificial intelligence: In our cities, human city planners are not able to ensure that all traffic partners can move efficiently and safe and at the same time that residents do not feel disturbed. The artificial intelligence should make it better, including crime.
  • Robots: At first they will act to support humans, later to replace them.
Do we really need all this stuff? Yes, because cities are getting more crowded and bigger and we will run into several problems that are far away from being smart.
