What are METS?

Movescount states: "Your fitness level is: Excellent
You train on a regular basis or participate in competitive sports, and your weekly exercise is: 7-9 hours
Maximum performance capability 15.3 METS"

Nice, right? But what are METS?

METS (Metabolic Equivalent Task) are directly related to the intensity of physical activity and the amount of oxygen consumed. The larger the MET value the more calories burnt.
The energy cost of an activity can be measured in units called METS

Example activities:

running, jogging 8.0
rope jumping 10.0
